I start off this week’s report with a reminder that we have FREE facemasks and Hand Sanitizer available at the Town Offices for our residents. We also just received a limited supply of other masks as well. We did receive a very small supply of COVID 19 Antigen Rapid Test Kits. Those test kits are not as readily available. However, we are told more are being shipped from the state.
Happy to report that the skating rink is back in operation. Remember, the park building is open Thursday through Sunday until 7 pm. Although the building is not staffed at all times, the building is heated to provide warmth. We even have skates one can use for free. The skates are on the Honor system and use at your own risk.

Essex County reminds all residents that there is an Order of Confinement of Dogs to protect the Deer Herd until May 1, 2022
As you may be aware, this is Wilmington’s Bicentennial. We are 200 years old as a Community. Originally, we were part of Jay. When we annexed, Leaders at the time chose the name “Danville” which was rejected because one already existed in New York State. A year later in 1822, the Town of Wilmington was established.
Every week in this report I will give a little Wilmington Historical Trivia as a way to acknowledge our historic past. In this first week of the year, here are some Wilmington Firsts, Reuben Sanford was the first Inn Keeper in the town, Elias Wilson kept the first store, Leonard Owen built the first mill, and Ester Kellogg was the first school teacher. Special Thanks to Karen Peters and Merri Carol Peck from the Wilmington Historical Society for assisting with the trivia.
That’s all for this week my friends. Stay safe & see you around town. –Roy Holzer
