Hello everyone! I want to start off this week’s report giving an update of our potential Wilmington Homestead Housing project. As some may be aware, we recently completed a Preliminary Site Evaluation on what
could be our very first local housing location. The professional evaluation was paid for by a New York State Grant. Our next phase is to have a Jurisdictional Inquiry Form completed for the APA. This is now completed and we appear to be in pretty good shape. This property location, if the “stars” align, could provide up to 6 single family homes. Make no mistake, this is a very long process. However, we continue to move forward. We will share more information as it becomes available. Our 2022 Wilmington Youth Ski Program kicks off this Sunday. Although the deadline has passed for our first ski date, if you reside in Wilmington and have children between the ages 8 to 18, we can provide you with more information about participating. Contact the Supervisors office for details.
Many know about the town’s awesome skating rink. But do you know we have a sledding hill at our town park? There are even toboggan
tubes one can borrow when the park building is open. At the suggestion of some neighbors in the park, we are even working on better lighting of the hill area for night time use.
This week’s History tidbit is about an area in town known as “Markhamville” This early name was for the present-day portion of Wilmington known as Haselton. This spot had a store, lumber mill, blacksmiths shop, a school and post office.
Our next Wilmington Bicentennial Committee meeting will be on Wednesday February 2nd at 12:30 at the Community Center. All are invited.
That’s all for this week my friends. Stay safe and see you around town.

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 1-28-2022
Greetings and welcome to another “Supervisor’s Report” for the last full week of January 2022. Wow, did this month fly by.
I am happy to announce that the Town of Wilmington has partnered with the Au Sable River Association in placing two live stream cameras on Whiteface Memorial Highway. This is a joint effort to facilitate reduced Road Salt usage, real time road conditions and hopefully make that part of the town road system more efficient. By real time viewing, our crew can see if the road needs care without sending a truck up the mountain.
Please stay tuned for more information and a press release that the Au Sable River Association will be releasing giving a more detailed explanation of this exciting new project. We will also be providing a method for one to look at the camera streaming in real time very soon.
Speaking of very soon, we are working hard with our vendor “Above Social” in putting the finishing touches on our New Town Website. I am pretty sure Wilmington Residents will be very happy with our ability to place more timely
information on this site.
History plug this week includes that on January 25, 1958 that Governor Averill Harriman officially dedicated the new ski area to the 10th Mountain Division of World War II. The Governor had been a western ski developer and signed legislation to finance the location of Whiteface Mountain Ski Center.
Just a reminder that our Wilmington Bicentennial Committee will be meeting on Wednesday February 2 at 12:30 pm at the Community Center. Everyone is invited.
At the 2022 Organizational Meeting of the Wilmington Town Board, I assigned members of our Town Board with specific committee assignments. A complete list is available on our Community Bulletin Board at the Post Office and we will have the list on the new town website. The committee structure is to help streamline the many projects, departments and organizations we work with. In the end, we all work together. However, this is one method many town governments use.
Finally, please note that we continue to have hand sanitizer, facemasks and a very limited supply of Rapid COVID tests for any town residents,
Stay safe my friends and see you around town.
