SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 6-10-22
Greetings everyone! We are excited to announce that our first performance of
the Wilmington Beach Concerts will kick off on Thursday June 30 th at 6pm. The
first concert will highlight two acts. Tally and Pop kick things off. Followed by
Wilmington’s own Dodridge GreyWolf Moore.
A full list of concerts will be available soon. It is important to note that our
concert series is totally supported by donations. Special thanks is extended to the
Essex County Arts Council, Whiteface Regional Visitors Bureau, Wilmington
Volunteer Fire Department, and Little Super Market. A complete list of donors will
soon be available on the concert program.
This past week, several people gathered for roadside clean-up of Springfield and
Fox Farm Roads. The event was organized by Town Council member Paula
McGreevy. A total of 8 bags of garbage and several bulky items were collected.
Fun fact, On Fox Farm Road, many empty cardboard containers of White Claw
Seltzer were found on the landscape. Plans are to add other town roads. If
interested in assisting, please contact the town offices.
The seasonal electronic speed sign is now out and about reminding drivers of the
speed limits within our community. Many side roads are either posted 35 or 45
mph. We will be attempting to step up speed enforcement as well working with
the New York State Police and the Essex County Sheriff’s Department.
The next Regular monthly meeting of the Wilmington Town Board will be this
Tuesday June 14 th at 7pm at the Community Center. As always, the public is
welcome to attend.
For this week’s History Trivia, Did you know that Wilmington once had as many as
8 school districts? According to a book “Echoes from Whiteface Mountain”
written by Adeline Jaques, many of the old school houses have been converted
into private homes or camps. If you would like more information on Wilmington’s
former schools, the Wilmington Historical Society has a wealth of information.
That’s all for this week my friends. See you around town
