SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 11-18-2022

Hello everyone. Hope you survived our first seasonal snowfall without any issues.
As the season changes, our town crew is busy placing our Holiday decorations
around the town. It certainly drives home the sense of community as Wilmington
transforms into a winter wonderland. Also in the works is the preparation of the
skating rink in the town park. Of course, Mother Nature will need to cooperate
with colder temperatures. We will keep you posted on an official opening.
Just a reminder that this Saturday there will be a Holiday Craft & Gift Fair at
Pourman’s Tap House from 10 am to 3 pm. This function is sponsored by the
Visitors Bureau. Last year’s event was very popular with both shoppers and
vendors. This is a great way to kick off your Christmas shopping.
Speaking of shopping, we still have Wilmington Bicentennial Banners, the book
“Wilmington’s Story” The First 200 years, Bicentennial Lapel Pins and a limited
number of special stamp cancelation envelopes for sale. What a great gift for that
person on your gift list. Prices are, Banners $50., Book $10, Lapel pins $2.00 and
Envelopes $1. Each. Stop by the Town Offices to purchase.
December 9 th will be the Official date of our Wilmington Christmas Celebration.
From a Santa Gift Parade to Fireworks, we have a little of your Holidays covered.
Please mark your calendars and look for official details soon.
Please note that the Wilmington Landfill will be closed next Thursday November
24 th for Thanksgiving. The Town Offices will be closed on the 24 th and 25 th as well.
Due to the snow event this past week, the Medicare Assistance consultations that
was planned for 11/16/2022 at the Community Center has been moved to next
Wednesday November 23 rd . If you already had an appointment, no need to call. If
you want to make an appointment, please call the Essex County Office for the
Aging at 518-873-3695 to sign up.
I would like to let everyone know we have Homeowner Assistance Packets
available from the Housing Assistance Program of Essex County at the Town
Offices. For people really interested in getting a home, this program can really
start the process and assist with the dream of owning your own home. I will
personally work with any Wilmington Resident serious about pursuing the many
avenues this program offers. Please note, it is a time consuming process.
However, many have been assisted in Essex County with this program.
For my Bicentennial bit this week, I would like to know what residents think
would be a good event or project to wrap up our Wilmington Bicentennial Year.
We have talked about a community dinner or lunch, however, with the holidays
coming up, this could be a challenge. Please let me know your thoughts.
