SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 6/16/2023

On behalf of our community, we wish all 2023 High School Graduates a sincere congratulations on their achievement. In particular, I especially want to give an additional shout out to our eleven Wilmington residents that are graduating from Au Sable, Lake Placid and Keene Schools. As has been our recent tradition, banners of our Wilmington graduates are up near the Wilmington Post Office. Thank You to Patti and Emily McConvey for their hard work in organizing this special gesture.

Another reminder that the Historical Society will be holding the Whiskey Run this Saturday June 17th. Please note the southbound lane on Springfield Road will be closed from Park Road to Fox Farm Road from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. There will be limited access for local residents who live on these roads. Otherwise, please use alternate routes. The Wilmington Historical Society appreciates your

understanding and support. For more information on the race, please go to, www.adkwhiskeyrun.com

Look to the town website, Facebook, Jay Community News and the bulletin board at the Wilmington Post Office soon with our summer concert line up at the town beach. The first concert will be on Thursday July 6 starting at 6:00pm featuring “Bootleg Band”

Early voting for the Republican Primary starts June 17th in Lake Placid. The Actual Primary Day is Tuesday June 27th at the Community Center from 6 am to 9 pm. The only position we have in the primary is the Essex County Clerk. For more information, please go to www.essexcountyny.gov/board-of-elections/

Finally, we are planning to open the Wilmington Beach on Wednesday June 28th. Once again the swimming part of the beach will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The hours of operation will be 12 pm to 6 pm. As many are aware, there continues to be a lifeguard shortage in the entire area. We will continue to try to recruit staff. However, it has been a real challenge finding any staff for many places.

That’s all for this week.

See you around town. – Roy Holzer
