SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 7-7-2023
Greetings! I hope everyone had an awesome Independence Day and all the
celebrations that go with it. For my family, we attended the Jay Celebration &
Parade. The parade was a reminder of life in our area and the hometown spirit we
all enjoy.
Speaking of “Hometown Spirit” plans are now underway to have a community
parade to kick off the popular Wilmington Get Together that will be held August
19 th . Floats, vehicles and all kinds of noise making machines will line up at the
Town Park. The Parade starts at 1 pm and will come out Park Road by the Little
Super Market. The Parade will continue down route 86 and end at the former
Steinhoff’s property. Please contact myself or Tina Terry Preston at 518 637-7900

After the Parade, the 9 th Annual Wilmington Get together will kick off at 3 pm at
the town beach. This free community event will have food, music and fun for the
entire family. For more information on this event, please contact event organizer
Sadie Hozley.
The Park Benches I mentioned in our report last week have been put together and
will now find their seasonal places throughout our town. We are most excited to
be placing one on Springfield and Fox Farm Road near the recreational path. I
know this will be welcomed by some walkers.
Vehicle Radar speed signs are now around our community as the reminder to
slow things down. We continue to encourage the New York State Police and Essex
County Sheriff’s Department to actively enforce speed limits.
Congratulations to Former Wilmington Resident and Native Jody Winch for
receiving Special Recognition by New York State Police Major Anthony Oliver.
Jody was recently awarded State Police Senior Investigator of the year. We are
proud of you Jody. Well done.
If you did not receive your copy of Wilmington’s Bicentennial Book, Wilmington’s
Story: The First 200 years, Authors Merri Peck, Judy Lawrence, Guy Stephenson
and Karen Peters will be at the Bookstore Plus in Lake Placid on Saturday July 8 th
from 1 to 3 pm for a personal book signing. The book is on sale for only $10 and is
packed with historical information on our community. As an extra plus, the book
makes a great gift and all proceeds benefit the Historical Society.
Concerts at the beach have now started. Every Thursday starting at 6 pm, free
music and entertainment is available along the banks of the Au Sable River. Bands
and performers include, Bootleg, InCahoots, Seth Warden & Doug Moody,
Dodridge Moore, Tally & Pop, On3, The Duo, Gab –n-Dad and Damaged Goods.

Just a reminder that the July Monthly meeting of the Wilmington Town Board will
take place on Tuesday July 11 th at 7 pm at the Community Center. As always, the
public is welcome to attend.
