SPRUCING UP THE COMMUNITY CENTER
The Parks Department worked on the Community Center this week and, as gardeners know,
ruthless pruning is often called for. Many bushes and shrubs were so overgrown there was
nothing for it and they are now gone. So too are the wasp and hornets’ nests.
Railings are being given new coats of stain. I am not sure when the building will get a new coat,
but it is on the schedule. Where needed fascia boards will be replaced
CEMETERY
Earlier the year I had some good discussions about the cemetery—what is needed to manage and
keep it in good repair.
There are also questions about its expansion and how to minimize washouts caused by all these
large rainstorms that have become common.
Doug and I met with a surveyor for an opinion and an estimate. The Haselton Cemetery was
created through different deeds and needs a map of survey to set the lines and boundary corners.
The surveyor could also help set boundary points for the new burial plots to help when the town
issues deeds for burial plots in the new section.
Because every large rainstorm manages to washout the existing roads and there will be new
roads for the new section, I am reaching out to local PEs for estimates in a design that handles
the new roads and the washout problems.
