SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 3/3/2023 Happy March everyone! I have personally always liked the month of March. The longer days of natural light are like a renewal of my inner soul. Though I like winter, the short days of sunlight start to take its toll on me by the end of February. Even when we get those typical March storms, one knows that the snow is only temporary and we can start planning for the next season of activities and projects. One thing you can plan for in the immediate future is a Girl Scout Cookie Sale at the Whiteface [...]

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 2-24-2023 This week I start off my report congratulating Tammy Devlin, of the University Of Vermont Health Network-Elizabethtown Community Hospital’s High Peaks Health Center in receiving the organizations DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. As many are aware, the Health Center is located directed behind our town offices. On many mornings, Tammy and I extend hand waves as we both start our work day. Her friendliness and caring manner is an asset to Wilmington and the area. The press release that was issued by the hospital stated, “Tammy is the heart of the Wilmington Health Center” I [...]

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 2-17-2023 Welcome to another week of some things Wilmington. First and foremost, I personally want to thank everyone that reached out to me concerning the Steinhoff’s property and article I wrote last week. The response was nothing short of amazing. In fact, last week’s article had 12,642 views according to our analytics. We have connected several people that are interested in this property with the sellers. As I stated last week, I will personally help anyone interested in this property or any other possible economic activity that would be in the best interest of our community. [...]

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 2-10-2023 I start off this week’s report with a few comments about a tour I recently did on the former Steinhoff Sportsman’s Inn property. As I entered the historic landmark for locals, a flood of great memories came to the surface. Although the structure has been closed for years, I felt I was walking back in time. Still attached to the building was the famous bar and fireplaces. The timeless wall artwork still remains intact. Although aged, the feel of Steinhoff’s still radiates throughout the structure. Sadly, water damage has hurt some parts of the building. [...]

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 2/3/2023 Get ready for the extreme cold temperatures and wind chills over the next few days. According to the National Weather Service in Burlington Vt., wind chills could go between 25 to 45 below or colder. Please plan accordingly. In some ways, this is probably the coldest it has been in our area for quite some time. Speaking of “weather”, residents are reminded that it is illegal to plow snow out on any public roads. Snow left on roads present a hazard to the traveling public as well. Just a reminder that the New York State [...]

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 1/27/2023 Wow! The last full week of January 2023 is almost behind us. Time certainly does fly by. For the last 10 days during the University Games, I have tried to be all over the area as your Town Supervisor spreading the “Wilmington Word”. From skiing events at Whiteface Mountain Ski Center to daily activities in Lake Placid, it certainly seemed like a whirlwind of activities. Some of those activities included attending a reception that Governor Hochul held. During my visit with the Governor, I was able to playfully remind her on the home of Whiteface [...]
