SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 5/17/2024 Definite signs of summer! 75 degrees, sunshine, lunch at the A&W and visitors enjoying themselves in beautiful Wilmington. Another sign: the lawn needs another mow, but I am less stoked about that. Busy week at the town offices as well. STR Amendments At the regular meeting this past Tuesday the board hammered out amendments to the local short term rental law. SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 5/10/2024 Greetings— TOWN CLEAN UP DAY—TOMORROW, 9-12 For those planning to help tomorrow, please gather at the beach a little before 9. The weather report shows chilly (54F as a high—chilly enough), but minimal chance of rain. A day or so ago, I posted on Facebook a poster that showed the basic information. We will have some but maybe not enough visibility vests, so please wear bright clothes. Bring gloves. We expect to have some, but again maybe not enough. SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 5/3/2024 Greetings— It comes as a bit of surprise (but it shouldn’t) how quickly Spring lands in the North Country. Nothing gradual—just a thump. Not that long ago 8 inches of snow and now I’m late to mow the lawn. And who knows? A Mother’s Day snowstorm may drop in. But the hummingbird feeder is ready. Any sightings? SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 4/26/2024 EARTH DAY CLEAN UP Thanks to the volunteers and Ausable River Association for the clean-up efforts on Earth Day. Also, thanks to those residents who have gone out (and continue to go out) on their own to help clean up our town. Our surroundings are so magnificent and these efforts help keep it that way. SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 4/19/2024 Happy Friday! WILMINGTON COMMUNITY DINNER The annual community dinner this past Wednesday was marvelous. It was held at the Hungry Trout and organized by the Whiteface Visitor’s Bureau. The food was terrific and conversation, both during the cocktail hour and dinner, cheerful. Thanks again to the Visitor’s Bureau for a terrific event and to the Hungry Trout for the delicious fare. This was noted during the dinner, but annual dinners of this sort are important. SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 4/12/2024 Hello Everyone! FOLLOW UP (AND FINAL) NOTES ON THE ECLIPSE Wilmington rises to the occasion, as it always does. Luckily, we were not inundated by hordes of cars. Heavy traffic was reported going down Fox Farm to Springfield as visitors left Whiteface. But I doubt it was at the volume of traffic I saw on a video from Keene Valley with a many miles long stream of cars headed east on Rte 73 towards the Northway. Next week’s report will, I hope, be the last to cover the Eclipse (pun intended). April 8 th —What to Expect (?) Many have already heard blasted everywhere that if you don’t need to go anywhere on Monday, don’t—stay at home. Of course, no one knows how many visitors Wilmington will have. SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 3/29/2024    Hey everyone--    Getting Ready for the Easter Bunny  The Easter Bunny will be visiting Wilmington tomorrow (Saturday, March 30, 2024) at the Wilmington Youth Center, Park Lane, Wilmington from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  There will be photographs and gift bags. The temperature dip for the past few days took some adjustment, but when the sun is out, it feels better.  Getting Ready for the Eclipse  No one knows if the weather will cooperate to let us see the eclipse, but the word is that the rooms in Wilmington have been fully booked.
