Town of Keene Board Resolution Honoring Robbi Mecus

On April 30th, 2024, the Town of Keene issued a Resolution honoring Robbi Mecus, who passed away in Alaska last week, in appreciation of her many important contributions to both our community and region as a resident and forest ranger. Click here to read the full Resolution (pdf)

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 4/26/2024 EARTH DAY CLEAN UP Thanks to the volunteers and Ausable River Association for the clean-up efforts on Earth Day. Also, thanks to those residents who have gone out (and continue to go out) on their own to help clean up our town. Our surroundings are so magnificent and these efforts help keep it that way. Norton Brook Cemetery Opening on May 1, 2024

Keene’s new Norton Brook Cemetery – including a Natural, or Green Burial section, is opening May 1, 2024.   The new town-run cemetery is near the bottom of Spruce Hill, the corner of Rts. 9N and 73.  It is next to the town’s original Norton Cemetery, where the first burial was in 1838.   That cemetery is essentially full, and is now closed except for those families that have already contracted for burials there. SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 4/19/2024 Happy Friday! WILMINGTON COMMUNITY DINNER The annual community dinner this past Wednesday was marvelous. It was held at the Hungry Trout and organized by the Whiteface Visitor’s Bureau. The food was terrific and conversation, both during the cocktail hour and dinner, cheerful. Thanks again to the Visitor’s Bureau for a terrific event and to the Hungry Trout for the delicious fare. This was noted during the dinner, but annual dinners of this sort are important.
