SUPERVISOR'S REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 2/2/2024  Greetings-  Thanks to all for helping with my first month as supervisor. The learning curve would have been steeper without the help and patience of the department heads, town employees and other town supervisors.  More calendar information. The weather has not been helpful for skating, or much winter fun, except for helping conserve the amount of firewood.  Public Meetings  There is a special meeting called for February 6, 2024, at 5:00 pm to discuss the changes to the Short-Term Rental law proposed by the committee who worked on this last year. The board will go [...]

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 1/19/2024  Ice Skating  The cold weather and breaks from the winter storms has let the Parks Department employees (J, A and B) get the rink into shape and open. There are night lights for evening skating.  We ask that all skaters be courteous to other skaters and for cooperation so recreational skaters can share the ice with those who want to play hockey. And don't throw snow on the ice-it has been difficult enough to clear snow that dropped from the sky!  Volunteers  Thank you to those who have contacted me about their interest in volunteering. [...]

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 1/12/2024  Greetings Everyone--  Weather  There are winter storm warnings issued for tonight and tomorrow. We will pass on any updates this weekend via the town Facebook page. Wilmington got its first accumulating snow last weekend and on Tuesday and Wednesday heavy snow, then wind gusts, then rain. The rain made the roads look clear, but the water was hitting cold surfaces and icing up.  So, thanks again to the highway and parks department for keeping on top of the changing conditions and making sure the highways, sidewalks and town properties are maintained during these swings in [...]

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 12/29/2023  Happy New Year my friends! This is my final report to you as your Town Supervisor. I want to take this time to "Thank You" for the opportunity to have served as "Mayberry's" Town Supervisor. For me, the job has always been rewarding and challenging at the same time.  Over the last 4 plus years as your Town Supervisor, I have used my weekly reports as a sincere way to connect with members of our community. I hope you agree.  My office is now barren of photos, motivational phrases and the items one collects in [...]

Hello Friends! Our 16th Annual Wilmington Christmas Celebration is now in the books. What an amazing time that was held by both the young and the young at heart.  The fireworks were indeed spectacular and the gift parade with Santa was so much fun! Thank you to all that contributed to the yearly community event. Special thanks to all of the town employees that always rise to the occasion of going above and beyond. We even put Supervisor Elect Smith to work assisting Santa with gift delivery.  In other news, I held my final Town Board meeting as Town Supervisor this [...]

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 11/17/2023  Hello Everyone, Recently Haselton Lumber Company announced it had been sold to Zach Marshall. As taken from their notice on the sale, Haselton Lumber Company has been a fixture in the Adirondacks for the past 123 years. That statement is so accurate. In fact, I would go a little further, Haselton Lumber has been an important part of Wilmington's growth and history for the same time period. On a personal note, I appreciate all the community support the Haselton Family has given our town over the years and generations. The Family's name can be found [...]

SUPERVISOR REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 11/10/2023  Hello Wilmington! I start off this week's report thanking all the candidates that ran for office this past week. Congratulations to those that were successful in their political pursuits. I look forward to a smooth transition of my office to the Supervisor Elect.  Our towns Parks Department will soon be placing Holiday Decorations up around our community for the season. The reason we start so soon is the fact that we have so many decorations to put up that we need to start early. I love to see the Christmas decorations around our town. It [...]
