SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 8/11/2023  Hello everyone and thanks for reading another Supervisors Report. I start off this week's update with a reminder that this Saturday is Wilmington's Town Wide Yard Sale. In the past, this day has been a true treasure hunt for all seeking a bargain. I have fond memories of my mom absolutely loving a good yard sale and the prizes she would bring home. Being so poor, it was absolutely imperative she found the best deal. As a child I was always amazed at the "loot" she would acquire on a very limited budget. Be sure [...]

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 8-4-2023  I was very saddened to hear about New York States Department of Health approval for the closure of both the Lake Placid Emergency Room and Dental Clinic. Since last October when the plans were announced to close the Emergency Room, I have opposed the measure. I was hoping that New York State would have assisted with this issue considering the millions they have already invested in our region. Certainly I could go on and on. However, I will not. Here is to moving forward.  Just a reminder that there will be an "OPEN HOUSE" next [...]

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 7/28/2023  Greetings from the "Nerve" center of the Wilmington Town Government also known as the town offices. ((ha-ha))  I start this report with news that soil testing was performed on the future site of the Wilmington Homestead Housing property this past week. Atlantic Testing Laboratories conducted subsurface investigations of the soil by using a portable drill that went several feet in the ground. In the drill were these plastic sleeves that collected soil and will later be analyzed for contamination like oil or PCBs. The testing is a requirement of the Northern Boarders grant to purchase [...]

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 7-21-2023  I start off my report announcing that I have appointed Town Council member Tina Terry Preston as my Deputy Supervisor. According to New York State Town Law, The role of Deputy Supervisor is an appointment at the total discretion of the Town Supervisor. The deputy runs meetings or signs checks in the absence of the supervisor. I have total confidence in Tina and thank her for once again "stepping- up" for her community.  Just a reminder that this weekend is Ironman. Please go to  lakeplacid.com/events/ironman-traffic-impacts-july-23-2023 for a more complete list of road closures and other [...]

SUPERVISOR'S REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 7/14/2023  Hello Wilmington! I hope everyone is surviving all this weird weather we have been experiencing lately. Like many areas, Essex County was under a "State Of Emergency" due to the most recent storm. Fortunately for our community, we did not have that much water damage or soil erosion at this point. Of course we continue to monitor areas of concern and remain diligent.  Congratulations and Good Luck to the Wilmington Summer Youth Program as they started their first day of programs this week. A complete itinerary was given to each participant. From what each hour [...]

SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 7-7-2023 Greetings! I hope everyone had an awesome Independence Day and all the celebrations that go with it. For my family, we attended the Jay Celebration & Parade. The parade was a reminder of life in our area and the hometown spirit we all enjoy. Speaking of “Hometown Spirit” plans are now underway to have a community parade to kick off the popular Wilmington Get Together that will be held August 19 th . Floats, vehicles and all kinds of noise making machines will line up at the Town Park. The Parade starts at 1 pm [...]
