SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 10/22/202

Hello Wilmington! In this week’s report I want to give a reminder that the heating assistance program for Essex County has opened. That means that the county is now accepting applications to help people with fuel bills. Depending on your age and financial ability, either Office for the Aging or Social Services remains ready to assist you. Should you need future assistance, feel free to contact the Supervisors Office. With Fuel Bills expected to rise in the months ahead, this could be welcomed relief for many.

At the October monthly meeting of the Town Board, the Preliminary 2022 Town Budget was approved. Your Town Budget is under the New York State 2% budget cap. Copies of the Budget are available at the Town offices and a Public Hearing has been slated for November 4th at 7pm. Directly after the public hearing, we will hold our regular monthly meeting for November. As always, the public is welcome to attend our meetings.

Planning ahead, residents are reminded that the Annual Trunk or Treat Halloween event will take place at the KOA on October 31st starting at 4pm. This is a FREE event for area youth. Fingers crossed for great weather.

December 10th has been set for the Annual Children’s Christmas Celebration. We will once again have the event in town like last year. Everything from Fireworks, Santa, Gifts and a parade are planned. Look for more details in the near future.

Speaking of Christmas, we will start placing decorations up around town in November. This will be right in time for Santas Workshop Christmas Yuletide weekends. This year we will be adding more decorations on both Springfield and Haselton Roads. I want to extend a big THANK YOU to Steve Forbes and Parkside Supply for donating the cost for one of our new decorations.

Residents of Essex County have the opportunity to Early Vote in North Elba starting on October 23rd. Please go to the Essex County Board of Elections at www.co.essex.ny.us/wp/boardofelections/The General Election this year is on November 2nd. Wilmington Polls are open from 6 am to 9 pm

That’s all for this week my friends. See you around town.
